Who we are

For people banks overlook

MoneyPigeon is for freelancers, remote workers, and diaspora who cross currency borders whenever they get paid. We built what we wanted to use.

Our story

The payment problem we knew

Chukwuebuka Mgbenka moved from Lagos to New York to work in fintech. Sending money home meant the same broken process used by nearly every Nigerian in the US: a bank wire with a 3-4% spread, a $35 fee, and a 2-3 day wait to know the money arrived. He saw colleagues freelancing globally face the same issue, earning in USD or EUR while living in currencies banks treated as second-tier.

MoneyPigeon began in 2024 with a question: could one payment card manage the entire flow for a global earner? Receive money in any major currency, hold it, convert at the real rate when needed, and spend directly without another transfer. That test became a product. Today, MoneyPigeon supports active corridors from the US, UK, and EU to Nigeria, India, Philippines, Brazil, and Ghana.

The team

People who know the problem

Everyone here has sent money internationally and felt the difference between what they expected to pay and what arrived. That experience guides what we build.

Chukwuebuka Mgbenka, CEO & Co-Founder, started MoneyPigeon in 2024 after years working on cross-border payment systems and seeing the same markups drain the same corridors. From Lagos and based in New York, he focuses on US-Africa and diaspora corridors where sending money remains disproportionately expensive.

What drives us

How we work and what we believe

Clear terms, not optics

We show the fee instead of burying a markup. Send $1,000 and see exactly what the recipient will get before confirming. No fine print.

Built for overlooked corridors

Legacy banking systems treat some countries and currencies as exceptions. We make them central to the product. The corridors other services overlook are where we focus first.

Fast, without shortcuts

A fast transfer that cannot be trusted is worse than a slow one. We target same-day delivery on major corridors while keeping the compliance needed for stable operations.

A focused product, built well

We choose a focused group of corridors and features instead of offering thin coverage everywhere. Users get something that works, not a country list that only appears on a pricing page.
